An immersive dark zone transforms a passageway in the City of Dreams Macau, mimicking the underwater perspective of Lotus flower buds in a pond. A thorough blend of audio-visual engineering and spatial design that ignites your senses, effectively bringing traffic flow and allowing visitors to pause and take in the surreal atmosphere.
PURPOSE
Directing traffic flow while offering guests an immersive experience once they step in was the goal. With lasers and smoke effects, we wanted visitors to think twice before stepping in, just like jumping into water. Once inside, we wanted to shrink down the perspective, as if they were microbes in a pond, looking up at the giant lotus buds underwater. We used a reflective flooring and built a ceiling to create the surround sound effects to enhance the experience.
CREATING THE EXPERIENCE
Whether they are passing through or want to stay for a few moments, we wanted to make sure visitors take a moment to pause in introspection, and view the surroundings in a different perspective. Using the different senses, we were able to forge a fully immersive zone in a short passageway preparing them for the upcoming area, creating a contrast and shifting their perspective.
CONCLUSION
A main passageway at the City of Dreams Macau, we wanted to make sure it will give visitors a surreal immersive experience, while feeling luxurious and relaxed. This zone incorporates meticulous engineering in the structure, as well programming VFX effects and audio-visual technology. This represents the vision of WCI Lab, utilizing the human senses as a medium for storytelling and create a unique and unexpected experience.
