MGM - "ART OF RACING"
Community
Experience

An inclusive spatial dialogue transforming the high-octane world of motorsport into an accessible community narrative, where the layout dismantles traditional museum barriers to create a shared, tactile experience.

Bridging High-Octane Heritage with Inclusive Art

The Macao Grand Prix Museum is built on the narrative of elite velocity—a world that can often feel distant to the observer. Working within MGM’s vision, our role was to dismantle that barrier. We had to link the intensity of professional racing with the intimacy of community art, finding a shared frequency to display almost 100 helmet models. The goal was simple yet complex: to create a space where a student’s clay model or a racing suit designed by differently-abled artists carries the same weight as a legendary racer’s suit.

Human-Scale Connectivity

To anchor the museum’s flow, we installed a 2-meter "Lion Helmet"—a massive, singular landmark designed to draw the eye and invite the "photo-op" moment - the first thing people see on arrival. Beyond this scale, the strategy was tactile. We moved away from cold, distant displays to create an environment where families and community groups could bridge the gap between themselves and the circuit.

By placing legendary gear and disability-inclusive art within immediate reach, the layout removes the hierarchy of the museum. To close the loop between the viewer and the event, we also provided an interactive raffle draw setup, turning a static visit into an active memory. It’s a space designed for proximity—inviting tourists and locals alike to touch the history and see themselves within the race.
